Private Fishing Charters
All Charters include use of rods and reels (optional), tackle, bottled water, live bait, fish iced immediately, cleaned and bagged.
All 1/2, 3/4 Day Local, and Full Day Offshore charters that are fishing in U.S. waters require a California Fishing License, which can be purchased on the California Department of Fish and Game website. Our family had a great experience on Guardian. We tried spearfishing while snorkeling. Despite being very inexperienced, Evan talked us through the entire process, showed us how to use the gear and stayed with the group while we snorkeled. We didn’t have much luck spearfishing so we broke out the rods and reels and Evan made sure we got some good fish in the ice chest.
It was an amazing ¾ day trip out to the islands and we came home with some fresh fish. We even saw a humpback whale and he slowed the boat so we could watch it jumping around for a good 15 minutes. Awesome trip, great fishing guide and very reasonable price. Can’t recommend Guardian enough if you want to get fish in the boat.
We came all the way from England to spend good quality time fishing with Evan. What a recommendation and yes we got 20 Yellow Fin. Service and safety spot on and his passion and happiness when fishing man fun lots of fun. Just when you think you can’t pull another fish he’s right there pumping you up. I greatly appreciate you taking care of my family on the open ocean and please anyone who is interested in fishing in the sea for the 1st time this is the Company.
Best 4 pack fishing charter on the west coast, by a mile! Evan and Woody will get you on the fish every time. These guys really love what they do. The boat is always filled with positive energy and smiles (and lots of fish) . Ive been on a few trips now with both Evan and Woody and each time i get back home i count the seconds to my next trip out with them.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve fished your whole life or never at all, you will have the time of your life. They will make sure of that. I grew up fishing, take my word for it this is money well spent.
I’ve been out with guardian charters 4 times over the past few years for hook and line and spearfishing charters. The captains and mates have always been top notch. When my family was in town we chartered the 28 Luhrs and they had a blast catching and cooking a variety of fish. While there’s nothing you can do about controlling the fishing or weather the captains will do everything they can to work the conditions and get you on the fish. They aren’t afraid to burn the gas to get you the best possible opportunity. While there are many charters out there to choose from in San Diego guardian offers the level of professionalism you come to expect and has always been a great experience for me. For spearfishing in particular they are THE charter to go with!
Super nice guy! Very knowledgeable about the area and up date on latest fishing reports and how/where to catch them. Very patient and went out of his way to explain things and give us quick lessons throughout the trip. Worked hard and made things easy for us.
My wife spoiled me with a 4hr Bay Trip fishing trip in San Diego for my Birthday present.
Captain Sam owner/guide of Guardian Charters put us on some awesome spotted bay bass/spotted sand bass. Our first catches of this species. Then we both missed & lost a couple halibut. The fishing and 4Hr trip was amazing!!! The views of San Diego & around the bay were outstanding, with Sea Lions hanging out in several locations, along with many Naval Ships & Submarines in dock. Captain Sam & his boat is top notch. I highly recommend booking any of Guardian Charters Fishing Trips!
This was a great experience and the captain put us on the fish first thing in the morning. He worked hard all day so everybody could get one or two tunas. We will be coming back to fish with him and would recommend him to other groups.
Our charter with Captain Sam was absolutely fantastic! It was a day filled with non-stop action. We reeled in like 100 Barracuda, on top of that, Captain Sam put us onto some Big Yellowtail, three of them up to 30lbs each. The guardian operation led by Captain Sam was exceptional , and his expertise as a captain was evident throughout the trip, I highly recommend Guardian to any serious fisherman.
We booked our trip with Guardian Charters from word of mouth and I’m soooooo glad we did! The whole transaction was smooth. The boat was the perfect size and super fast. We got to the Coronado Islands before I could even take a nap. Captain Evan got us on the fish quickly and often using several different techniques. He has great knowledge in the water and was really nice and patient with us rookies. He has really nice equipment and helped us the whole day with casting, pulling in fish and keeping from crossing our lines up. Snacks and drinks were on board, along with a bathroom and soft cushions to lay down on. He even filleted the fish at the end of a long day on the water. We ended up with like 18 yellowtail, 3 Bonita, 1 calico bass and a few rock fish between the 4 of us. If you’ve never tried a private charter, have no reservations giving this company a try! Sam and John were the best of the best! Great communication leading up to and throughout the trip. They were very knowledgeable about all the species of fish, where to find each, and quick to adapt to changing conditions, baits, and used multiple techniques to maximize our catch! At the end of the trip they went above and beyond to help filet, prep, and package the catch for our journey home. Looking forward to going fishing again with Sam next season!
This was our very first charter experience and I booked it for my dads birthday. Captain Sam was extremely professional and a great time to be around. We decided to go big and try to find a Halibut! Well sure enough we got a good one. All thanks to Guardian. Will be coming back this summer
I’m not an avid fisherman but my boyfriend is and this charter was EPIC, exceeding our expectations. From start to finish the crew was spot on just like our “Fish On”! Captain Sam definitely knows where to go and we caught so much Mahi and Tuna we had plenty to give away. Next time my boyfriend will book a spear fishing trip with Guardian while I stay behind and wait for my dinner to be caught! :)
We had a great experience with Sam. He was well prepared for our charter from bait to tackle. He put us on some fish even though conditions were off. He entertained us along the way and truly made it a memorable time from start to finish. Would highly recommend!
Guardian Charters is one of the best Spearfishing Charters in all of San Diego I make a point to go out on their boat at least 3 to 5 times a year. The owner Evan Wagley hires the very best captains in the business, and Guardian Charters I have landed large tuna nice yellowtail and had some really fun days at the Coronado Islands. I’d recommend Guardian Charters to any of my friends. If there are fish to be had these guys will put you on them
I went out with Guardian Charters for a day of spearfishing as well as a night of lobster diving. Evan and the team were absolutely fantastic — they knew where to go to find fish and gave me great advice on hunting techniques. Our crew speared several fish and took home plenty of bugs. On top of that they are fun guys to spend time with on the water. Highly recommend going out with them!
Guardian Charters are who you need to book with if you want to go with quality. The captain and his crew are one hundred percent legitimate. They are extremely knowledgeable and experienced fishermen, but also understand how to bring top notch service and customer satisfaction as a charter company. I was so stoked to have fished with them. They are super enthusiastic about catching fish. And their enthusiasm and drive to give their customers a great experience really paid off. We caught limits on Yellow Tail when other charters were coming back empty handed. This is the real deal, you guys!
Couldn’t have asked for a better trip. Sam is unlike any other captain I have fished with in San Diego. I’ve been on a lot of 6 pack charter boats and I don’t see myself booking with anyone moving forward. When we got on the boat Sam asked us if we were okay with running 80 miles out. We told him to do whatever he thinks is best. Thank God we did because we were the only boat that decided to make that run and we limited out within 2 hours of getting to the grounds. We heard on the radio all of the boats that ran 30-40 miles got skunked. After catching bluefin we went and messed around at the island and got a few yellows. Sam wanted to stay out until dark to try and limit out on YT but unfortunately we had a flight to catch. 10/10 trip and it was 100% because Sam. Excited to get on his new boat when he gets it!
We had an incredible experience with Captain Sam during our recent trip. From the moment we booked our trip to the morning of our arrival, he was incredibly helpful and made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. As soon as we boarded the boat early in the morning, we were pleasantly surprised by the roominess and overall quality of the boat. It exceeded our expectations.
Sam was extremely knowledgeable and well versed in the fishing we did, we not only fished but learned too! This was our first trip with Guardian and it certainly won’t be our last!!
